AND OUTCOME MEASURES
The Oklahoma County Detention Center will conduct Reality Check
Programming each Tuesday from 3:45 noon to 7:00 pm. Parents or Guardian
will have made arraignments prior to Tuesday with the Standards and
Compliance Unit for their children’s participation in the
program. All participants in the program must be between the ages of 8
– 17 and must have parental permission to participate. A log
book will be maintained at the front desk for all participants to sign
in denoting: name, age, gender, address, name of parent or guardian,
school or group and primary and secondary contact numbers.
Tour will begin in the basement were participants will complete a Boot
camp style of orientation. Participants will be educated about the
choices that they have made that led them to the program. Participants
will be expected to follow all directions during their time in the
Detention Center. Each participant will be given a reality tour of the
facility to discover “life behind bars” and then
spend the last hour discussing why they had made choices that they have
made, learning how to implement stop sequences, identifying thinking
errors and the development of a safety plan.
The conclusion will be spent encouraging parents to participate with
their children after the program to encourage the use of their stop
sequences and pro-social interventions.
Each participant will be contacted each week for the first 30 days and
then monthly for 6 months to discuss how things are progressing.
Parents or Guardian may sign a waiver for this aspect of the program to
forgo contact by the Reality Check Officer. Each contact will be logged
into a file for outcome measures for program success.
