Online Learning Community

Opportunity Expanded

January, 2019

Dear Parent,

This past year we piloted an Online Learning Community (OLC) meeting designed for parents who are struggling with their teens and young adult children, who are misusing substances.  Here's what participants had to say about being involved in the OLC:

"The facilitator carefully guides the meetings to incorporate learning as well as time for story-sharing and support..."

"I felt less alone being involved with a group of parents who are also experiencing similar difficulties with their children."

"What really helped me was the parents' sharing what's worked for them, healthier ways to deal with situations, insights into addiction, coping with stress and how and where to go for help."

"This is the place where a parent can become hopeful after years of hopelessness."

What are the OLC meetings about?  Each 60 minute meeting will be led by specially trained parent coach facilitators with oversight by a master's level trained clinician. It will include a welcome and short check-in for participants, followed by an education topic from our extensive resources.  The balance of the meeting is open for discussion of the topic and group support with the facilitators and fellow parents.  Confidentiality is a priority during the meetings.  And, as with our other services, it's free for you!

What online meeting would be right for me?  The meetings take place on a biweekly basis and will be starting soon.  We are currently offering the following options:

-Tuesdays, from 7-8 pm ET/6-7 CT/5-6 MT/4-5 PT (primarily for parents with young adult children)
-Thursdays, from 3-4 pm ET/2-3 CT/1-2 MT/12-1 PT (primarily for parents with teens)
-Saturdays, from 11 am-Noon ET/10-11 am CT/9-10 MT/8-9 PT  (for parents with young adult children or teens)

What if these times don't work for me?  We will continue growing the number of meetings we offer so please let us know you are interested by replying back to this e-mail and indicate what days or times are better for you.  That will help in our planning.
