THE WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS & CAREGIVERS:

Hope, Learning, & Support for Families Affected by Substance Use

 

The Workshop for Parents & Caregivers is a FREE peer-led educational opportunity for parents affected by their child’s substance use delivered by specially trained peer parent facilitators. 

 

The program is designed to help parents and caregivers learn new communication, behavior management, and self-care skills with the goal of improving family dynamics and ultimately, reducing or eliminating problematic substance use.

 

The Workshop for Parents & Caregivers covers ten topics in five weekend sessions:

Willingness and the Marathon / Helping Through Understanding

Self-Care: Strengthening Your Foundation / Understanding Substance Use

Having Conversations - Strategies for Improving Communication / Strengthening Healthy Alternatives

Natural Consequences / Limit Setting

Offering Information and Making Requests / Conversations Suggesting Treatment.

Sessions will be held each Saturday from June 1 through June 29, 2019- 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Location is SSM Saint Anthony Hospital, 1000 N. Lee Street in Oklahoma City

Meetings are held in the SSM Saint Elizabeth Conference Room- Ground level off main entry
